Organizing the Toys?

So I decided I needed to organize our toys better since the playroom is also our living room (yes, we need a bigger place). I got some cloth cubes, and decided to use the "display" space in our sofa table to store them.
It took Ash all of 10 minutes after she got up to discover her new toy storage, and less than 8 hours to dump the cube out on the floor and take its place. This is just a new adaptation to her habit of climbing into the toy box so that she can play with all her toys at once.

Trip to Californa

We finally took Ashlynn to California to meet her great grandparents. It was one heck of a busy, short trip, but I think she had a good time. She certainly enjoyed exploring the airport until I put an end to it.
Meeting her great grandparents for the first time didn't seem to faze her. She did cause quite a stir at their independent living center, where we had lunch or dinner every day. The older ladies especially seemed to enjoy having a baby around. That's good, since it meant people weren't giving me dirty looks when she threw food on the floor (though I did get some weird looks when I picked up the food she dropped).

We took some time out of our trip to make sure she got to go to the beach for the first time. She thought walking on the sand was awesome. She did NOT like when the wave came in and the water washed over her feet. In all fairness, the Pacific Ocean is really cold.
Anyway, that was our life for the last week of August. I was very glad to get home and not be a single parent any more. Of course we've all been sick since then, but the trip was great.

Ashlynn's First Trip to the Pool

On July 7 we finally the weather finally warmed up and we were all healthy enough to take Ashlynn to the pool for the first time. She loves baths and water, so we suspected she would love the pool. She definitely did. Her cute little swimsuit was a gift from our friend Mindy. I love the crocheted suit and flower petal skirt.

Ashlynn's First Birthday

We celebrated Ashlynn's 1st birthday on Saturday June 27. It was a crazy busy day with her 1 year portraits taken that morning, then a party in the afternoon.

Ashlynn had a special birthday princess crown from some friends of ours, but she only consented to wear it for a very short time. At least we got some pictures before she pulled it off.

Balloons apparently tasted great. She kept trying to eat them.

The best part, at least for Ashlynn, appeared to be the cake, which I forgot to take pictures of before we let her dive in to it. Her first couple of bites were very tentative, as she kept looking at me to see if I was going to let it continue. When she realized we were not going to stop her she dove in wholeheartedly. Check out my facebook page for lots more pictures of the fun day.

First Trip to the Zoo

Ashlynn had her first trip to the zoo. She liked the monkeys and "kitties". She DID NOT like being in the umbrella stroller. She liked the big stroller better once we took off the shoulder straps. Not a big fan of wearing a hat, but she did enjoy having the sunscreen sprayed on her. Had a great time with her cousins.
